The New Library

The Friends of TADL Long Lake Branch are pleased to announce that nearly half of the funds for the new library have been raised. Gerald and Iva Bates propelled the project forward in February by pledging $100,000.00.

Their pledge along with many other generous donations moved the project almost to the point at which grant applications are accepted. Committee members were hard at work this winter and spring, sponsoring community library events such as Sleddi Spaghetti, the 3rd annual Books and Bargains Sale, Author/Illustrator workshops, book walks at Westwoods and Long Lake Elementary Schools, etc. All of these events were great fun and well attended!

The estimated cost of the building is $695,000. The funds will continue to be raised privately through pledges, in-kind gifts, donations, grants and fundraisers. The committee is buoyed by the support of the community and is looking forward to continued success in its capital campaign with an July, 2008, target date for groundbreaking.
